Relationship theme
Description: A woman is standing facing a frog covering her bare breasts. The frog is spotted. The frog is sitting on a ledge looking at the woman.
Analyze: Rapiti uses shading to portray shadows in the colorless picture. He uses heavy and light strokes to emphasize edges of objects. There is emphasis in the frog with lighter skin with dark spots. He uses form and shape to make the frog realistically sized compared to the grown woman. The artist uses unity through not only shading and blending, but also because the woman is facing the frog and the frog appears to be facing the woman.
Interpret: At first glance of this image, the viewers eyes would go either straight to the woman's face or straight to the frog. Their eyes may go to the woman's face, because it is the lightest place of the picture. The on lookers eyes could also go straight to the frog, because it is the only part of the image that has both light and dark color. The two bodies are the main part of the picture, so when looking, the viewers eyes will go to one of them first.
Judge: This picture is able to show the relationship humans have with animals. Even though this picture isn't much, it shows a strong but unknown relationship between the woman and the fro viewers could refer to the relationship as intriguing because of the fact that it is between a woman and a frog, and that is an unusual relationship in reality. On lookers could also view this relationship as fear because the woman does not have the happiest look on her face.
