Description: A man is bent over on a chair and smashed into broken pieces. The man is tannish in color. There are rough edges on the man. The pieces that were smashed out are on the floor under the man.
Analyze: Triggs made a realistic, hollow human body and to show the broken relationship the theoretical man has with himself, he smashes holes into his sculpture while leaving the pieces on the ground. There is no color besides the color of the materials used to make the sculpture. He literally uses space in this piece. The man is making up positive space tend the holes in him exposing a hollow inside is making negative space.
Interpret: Disregarding the fact that the sculpture is three-dimensional, this sculpture would still pop out to the viewer if it was a 2-dimensional painting. The disorganization of the broken pieces on the ground seems to be organized by the way they are lying on the ground.
Judge: This is a very well put together piece. The man is bent over and broken as many of the viewers may have theoretically found themselves at a difficult point in their life. This man can represent the broken relationships people have with themselves. When something tragic happens, viewers may have the mental image of George Triggs sculpture pop up into their head.
