Why is the chi square necessary?

The Chi Square analysis allows us to accurately analyse and compare projected statistics to the statistics of the results from our own experiment. In this case, we used m&ms as our subject to experiment, so we will be comparing the percentages of colours released from the m&m factory to the percentages found in both my individual findings and the class's total data.
