Bacteria are single cell microorganisms. In the past bacteria was one kingdom until scientists realized more specifically there are two parts to the kingdom. These are classified as archaebacteria and eubacteria. Archaebacteria are eukaryotes that typically live in unusual and harsh conditions. Eubacteria are prokaryotes. These make up all other types of bacteria other than archaebacteria. Binary Fission is bacteria's system of reproduction. A single cell replicates and divides into two sister cells, identical to the parent cell. Some diseases caused by bacteria include Pneumonia, Strep Throat and Scarlet Fever.
