By Lewis Carroll
Dreamland
I love Dreamland by Lewis Carroll because of the topic and tone of the writing. In the beginning, it has a the feel of an epic or ballad with the narrator's talk of the mighty dead. As it goes on, it gains a wistful tone. In the poem, the first two lines of each stanza rhyme, the third line does not, and the fourth line always ends with the words "pass away", an excellent example of epistrophe. The third line, however, always has uses assonance.
