Knights were mounted warriors that fought with swords, lances, and axes. They usually were composed of nobles that had been training since childhood. They gave service to the king by being an available soldier when needed in warfare. They made up 5% of the population.

Knights adopted a code of conduct called chivalry. This conduct said that knights had to be brave, loyal and true to their word. They also had to fight fairly and protect the weak in warfare.
