Volcanoes are created by transform boundaries. Transform boundaries occur when one plate slides under another plate. A volcano has now been created. A group of volcanoes, known as the Ring of Fire, are on the coastlines of the Pacific Ocean. Volcanoes are unpredictable, they may be deemed extinct but may become active again after a long period of time. Soil building and tectonics are involved in volcanoes

Rivers are created by erosion, which is the E in STEW. Erosion is the process of moving rock broken down by weathering by means of flooding or wind. Pictured is the San Joaquin River in Fresno, California. Rivers may increase trade and tourism due to a high number of riverboats.
Mountains are created by convergent boundaries. Convergent boundaries are when two tectonic plates come together. In STEW, tectonics are the T. The mountain pictured is Mount Elden in Flagstaff, Arizona. Mountains create Great Barriers, which block weather. It is also colder on mountains due to their high elevations.
Grasslands are created by divergent boundaries. Divergent boundaries occur when two plates slide away from each other. A Rift Valley is then created. Tectonics is the main process which creates this biome.
