Jalaluddin Khilji (1290-1296)
Jalaluddin was the first sultan of the Khilji dynasty, who reigned from 1290 to 1296. Born and raised in Afghanistan, Jalaluddin went to built his capital at Kilughari, a few miles from the city of Delhi, and completed the unfinished palace and gardens of Sultan Qaiqabad.[1] He ruled much of Northern India for six years, from 1290 to 1296. He was a kind, tolerant man, but the nobles began plotting against him at once. His nephew, Alauddin, without his uncles permission, began raids into other parts of India. Returning with much treasure from one raid, he sent message to jJallaludin to meet him. When the two met at kara, the old man was murderd and Alauddin became sultan.
