Photosynthesis and Respiration are different. First of all, photosynthesis takes place in a plant when there is sunlight available. Respiration takes place in an animal and occurs all the time. Photosynthesis makes energy from the production of food/glucose. Respiration releases energy from breaking down food. Photosynthesis's chemical reaction occurs when water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight are in a plant, and the product is glucose and oxygen. Respiration's chemical reaction occurs when glucose is broken down into water, oxygen, and energy. The product is carbon dioxide.
Photosynthesis, 6CO2 + 12H2O + light --> C6H12O6 + 6O2 + 6H20

Respiration, 6O2 + C6H12O6 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy
