"Run and Tell That" is a song about 'black pride' and it refers to the fact that in the future African Americans will succeed. This song expresses feelings about the culture at the time by showing that African Americans were not given much freedoms. African Americans were seen as inferior to white people. We believe this song is considered a freedom song because the singer of the song expresses how African Americans should be seen as equal and could even be better than white people. Throughout the song, the singer expresses his emotion of how tired an annoyed he is that people always judge him by his color. The musical message of the song is that everyone is created equal and no one should be discriminated on the color of their skin because anyone can do anything they aspire to do no matter their origin.

"Darker the chocolate richer the taste"

"I can't see why people look at me and only see the color of skin"
