-Matthew wanted to draw attention to the fact that Jesus was the Messiah "Founder of the Kingdom of God"
-Matthew's gospel put focus on the forgivness of sins and the importance of the kingdom of heaven and how it is foretold by the prophets.
-He preached that Jesus Christ's salvation shall be told to the world and that He will forgive those who are merciful, and they shall she the kingdom of God.
