"My life closed twice before it's close"

"There is a certain slant of light"

There is a certain slant of Light

Poetry meanings

- Some one is observing the winter forest
- There is a beam of light shining down that sticks out in the observers eyes
- The observer is not sure how to feel about it, but he/she finds it as a disturbance

My Life closed twice before it's close

The main point is that there is a type of suffering more in this life than there is when you suffer death.
- Emily suffers several major loses in her life
- Emily feels like life is not worth living for after all the loses that she has been through
- Emily then expresses how she starts to question what heaven and hell would be like after death
