Emily Dickinson
Short Biography
Emily was born in 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. When Emily was a child she was restricted and wasn't able to read certain works of literature. When Emily was a teen she met a man named Benjamin Franklin Newton, who told Emily that she should express herself through poetry. Emily was very energetic throughout her teenage years but in her twenties she became very isolated and secluded. In 1855 she experienced many deaths of her loved ones which deepened her depression. She often expressed this through her works of poetry.
Her father died of a stroke in Boston and her mother went through a paralyzing stoke which made her handicapped for the rest of her life. Many other people that she loved had passed before her, because of this, she published, "The Dyings have been too deep for me."
After living a life full of grief and hardship Emily Dickinson died in 1886 after battling a kidney disease known as nephritis.
