Waterfalls:
Part Two

' waterfall
ˈwɔːtəfɔːl/
noun
a cascade of water falling from a height, formed when a river or stream flows over a precipice or steep incline.'

Waterfalls are usually found in the upper course of the river.
As the waterfall moves backwards, or recedes, upstream a gorge or canyon is created.
As the cap rock falls into the plunge pool, boulders are added to the bottom. After this, they are eventually broken down by attrition as the force of the waterfall causes them to collide.
The waterfall can then get deeper, as the rocks cause abrasion against the bottom of the plunge pool.
