Wattled Jacana

Adaptation: Able to walk on the Vegetation that floats on the water due to their long toes.

Description: The Wattled Jacana (Jacana jacana) is a wader which is a resident breeder from western Panama and Trinidad south through most of South America east of the Andes.

Habitat: Wattled jacanas inhabit tropical and sub-tropical regions in still or slow flowing bodies of water

Diet: feast of small fishes, insects, snails and vegetation. With its long, thin beak it can pluck bugs and other things in the water. it even turns plants over to see what’s hiding beneath.

Interesting Fact: Males are much smaller 15 inches (38 cm) 4.8 ounces
