Theodore Robert, also known as Ted Bundy, was an American serial killer who assaulted and murdered over 100 women. Known for being handsome and charismatic, Bundy used these traits for winning over the trust of his victims and then luring them to their deaths. He often approached his victims in public places, pretending to be hurt or disabled, or impersonating an authority figure. He then would overpower his victims in a more secluded area. He has decapitated at least 12 victims and he's known for keeping some of their heads for a period of time in his apartment for mementos.
Bundy served time in Utah in 1975 for aggravated kidnapping and attempted criminal assault. Since Bundy became a suspect in a progressively long list of brutal homicides in multiple states. Facing murder charges in Colorado, he pulled off two dramatic escapes and committed further crimes, including three murders. Three years later he got caught in Florida and received three death sentences in two separate cases for the Florida killings. Bundy died on January 24, 1989 in Raiford Prison in Starke, Florida from the electric chair. He was described by Ann Rule as "a sadistic sociopath who took pleasure from another human's pain and the control he had over his victims, to the point of death, and even after." His own defense attorney, Polly Nelson, wrote that "Ted, was the very definition of heartless evil."
