Population density

Just like the rest of the world the population here depends on the water. The only difference is that about a third of the way down the region (by the equator) there is a desert which seperates the upper and lower part of this region. This not only physically separates the two but also culturally and socially. Some of the most populated countries North of the Mediterranean Sea are Egypt, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. Some more heavily populated areas South of the Mediterranean are Algeria, Uganda, Sudan and Morocco.
