DBQ
In countries like Saudi Arabia, Israel, Egypt, Iran and Lebanon, religious-based laws govern some areas of family life. For example, women regardless of age are considered minors under the supervision of their male family members. This allows men legally to be the sole decision-makers in family matters.
The extreme examples of inequality are many. In Saudi Arabia, for example, wom- en are forbidden from driving. Other laws govern women’s clothes, their right to di- vorce and to have custody of their own children, their access to education and their right to travel.
