Erosion and Weathering
Erosion and weathering are different things. Erosion is the displacement of solids (soil, mud, rock) usually by currents such as, wind, water, ice, or by gravity. Like when a rock is loose from a mountain and its falls down the side of the mountain because of gravity. Weathering is any of the chemical or mechanical processes where rocks exposed to the weather undergo changes and break down. The 4 types of erosion are rainfall, glacier, stream, and coastal erosion. Rainfall is when rain or snow falls it knocks off small pieces of rock. Glacier is when glacier moves and scrapes up and moves the sea floor behind them. Stream erosion is when a moving stream picks up dirt and moves it. Finally coastal is when waves crash on the shores they move the sand. The 4 types of weathering are frost when a rock is frozen and it breaks apart, pressure when lots of pressure breaks rock, hydro when high pressure water breaks rocks, and thermal when extreme hot or cold effects rocks.
