"They were brought up in the simple habits...whose firmest belief was in the sacredness of truth, and the worthiness of moral virtue."
The Hambleton family arrived in the country devout Quakers looking for a place to openly and safely practice their religion. In the generations that followed, the family faced a lot of challenges from both state pressure and within their own group. Through it all, the Hambletons stood firm to their convictions, thrived, and developed a tendency for group nurturing that lives on through the institutions the family helped create.
