"I was so excited, I jumped out of my boots."

Kathleen Shook on the return of Cleo Shook from fighting in WWII

When Kathleen welcomed her husband Cleo home from his WWII service as an Army Air Force airplane mechanic, she was repeating a scene very common to the Shook family line. Since before arriving in Pennsylvania in 1731, the Shook family has been drawn into countless wars. Fortunately, the direct line leading to Cleo always seemed to fight their way through the war zone, and safely back to their loved ones on the farm back home. The experiences they encountered while defending their country and family helped ensure the Shook family fortified themselves in a way that allows them to look past fear to see the bigger picture.
