Causes of

Phlebitis

-Local trauma or injury to vein.
-Prolong inactivity such as a long driving/plane rides
-Periods after surgery especially orthopedic procedures.
-Prolonged immobility such as hospitalized or bed-ridden.
-Underlying cancers or clotting distorters.
-Severe burns
-Extreme drug usage.
-Disruption of normal venous system.
-Drainage or removal of lymph nodes. Ex. Mastectomy of breast cancer.
-Distorters that make you more likely to develop blood clots.
