Treatment for Phlebitis

- It depends on your location
-Underlying medical conditions
-Apply warm compresses elevation
-walking or stretching
-oral anti-inflammatory medications
-Tropical anti-inflammatory medications may also be beneficial
-External compression with fitted stockings is recommended for patients with superficial phlebitis of lower extremities
-If an intravenous cater is the cause then it should be removed
-if infected use anti-bionics
-in severe cases surgical exploration may be necessary
-selective patients with DVT may require placement of the inferior vena cava filters to prevent pulmonary embolus NSAIDS keep pressure off of it to reduce further risk.i
