What did Ned Kelly do as a result of what was happening?
Ned Kelly
In 1965, authorities introduced the "Felons Apprehension Act" which allowed outlawed bushrangers to be shot rather than arrested and sent to trial.
Ned Kelly's final stand to resist arrest against this Act and his plea for justice to end discrimination against poor Irish settlers did end up opening the eyes of people. Ned Kelly, in his famous armour suit, came to symbolise a fight by a flawed hero, a convicted criminal, for 'justice and liberty' and 'innocent people'.
Over 10,000 people singed a petition to spare Ned Kelly's life
In gail, Ned Kelly wrote a long letter to the authorities demonstrating the discrimination against the poor Irish settlers.
