Most people around the island farmed the lands or worked out in the seas as fishermen, Abel was no exception. He worked the fields they owned with his older brothers and father whenever the day let itself shine down and weather permitted. At the time, still in his native homeland, Abel did go to school though, only up to the eighth grade. The main reason he stopped going was to help his family survive and keep the farm and land in utmost condition they could get it.
