A meteorite is a large piece of debris that floats in space and makes impact on Earth. A meteor or "shooting star" is the visible streak of light from a meteoroid or micrometeoroid, heated and glowing from entering the Earth's atmosphere. Asteroids are miniature planets orbiting in space. A comet is an icy small Solar System body that, when passing close to the Sun, heats up and begins to outgas, displaying a visible atmosphere or coma, and sometimes also a tail. Moons are celestial bodies that orbit around a planet. Planets are celestial bodies that orbit around a star.
