GAMMA KNIFE SURGERY:
If a traditional surgery is not possible, this type of surgery is used. Gamma knife surgery includes the collection of highly focused radiation beams that deliver a powerful dose of radiation, all beams combine and hit the tumor. The dose of radiation given is enough to get rid of the tumor completely but it takes years to fully take effect and return the growth hormone to normal. Even though it is effective it's known to have some types of side effects such as obesity, learning disabilities, and emotional issues in children, which is why it is only used if all other treatment options are a failure.
