Treatment for Marfan's

Since Marfan's is an autosomal dominant disorder, siblings could have it, and they will most likely be carriers. This could have affects on the children of the carrier siblings .

Individuals who have Marfan syndrome are treated by a multidisciplinary medical team that includes a geneticist, cardiologist, ophthalmologist, orthopedist and cardiothoracic surgeon. The eye problems are usually treated by eyeglasses and contacts. While treatment is usually different for each individual, most require surgery, either for the bone problems or to keep the heart functioning properly. Medication, such a beta blockers, are used to keep the heart relaxed and functioning as it should. In some cases an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) is used to keep blood pressure down, and is also used in case of heart failure.

Eyeglasses and Contacts can easily help with the vision problems of Marfan's
