Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.
By Robert Frost
I chose this poem because when I first heard it in the book "The Outsiders" I instantly fell in love with it. It has so much meaning that's described in the book (The Outsiders) It means that you're gold when you're a child and you see things differently. Since I grew up watching the movie, I've grown to love the poem mainly because it's in my favorite movie, but also because it has a lot of good meaning behind it and it's very well written.
