The Monitor Vs. The Merrimac: Ironclads

The Union had a boat: the Monitor. It was a boat with a steam engine, but the special thing was that it was covered in iron. When the Confederacy saw that, they went out to make that too. It was called the Merrimac. The two ironclads fought each other with cannonballs but none were heavily damaged. This changed naval battles and the making of boats. Because of these ships, the boats that we now use exist. Our boats too use a engine and is cover in metal.
