Secede: To withdraw from something.
Confederacy: The southern states that seceded from the Union.
Union: The states that did not secede.
Civil War: The war between the Confederacy and The Union for the right to keep slaves.
Emancipation Proclamation: A statement that said slaves in the Confederacy were free.
Draft: A plan to force people to join the military in times of wars.
