And so the story goes, Loki was not a god, but the son of a Frost-Giant and wherever he goes, trouble follows. He disguises himself as a women and goes to talk with Frigga. She tells him about the mistletoe, which he sets out to find. He makes a small dart out of the bush and forces Hod (Balder's brother) to throw the dart at Balder. The gods would play a game to see what could hurt Balder. The dart pierces Balder's heart and kills him. The gods immediately turn on Loki and this is the beginning of the end.
