- 89% of 100% of total Muslims were shi'a , Sunni Baha'i , Christian , Zoroastrian , & Jewish

- these religions lived amongst themselves in peace

- Iran restricted freedom of religion

- the constitution declared that the " official religion of Iran is Islam "

- religions weren't specifically protected under the constitution based on their religious beliefs

- People were required to indicate their religious affiliation to make sure the followed Islamic codes on dress & gender segregation in public

- the government sometimes allowed recognized religious minorities (Christians ,Zorostrains , & Jews) to conduct religious education of their adherents ,also restricting the right to run for president but they could vote
