The Supreme Court had a big part in ending Jim Crow. It was responsible for passing the fourteenth and fifteenth amendment, abolishing slavery and granting civil rights for African Americans. It also helped end segregation at schools, places of public accommodation, modes of transportation and juries. The Supreme Court also held cases such as Strouder and Plessy vs. Ferguson that helped sculpt the visions of unconstitutional and constitutional perspectives. After the election of Ruther B. Hayes, many African Americans lost their civil rights they had during Reconstruction, but more started participating in politics. When Theodore Roosevelt was elected, he was openly opposed to civil rights, discouraged the thrive for political and social equality and also influenced racism throughout executive positions in the government. After the election of Woodrow Wilson, he encouraging discriminative behavior like making interracial marriage a felony and excluding black people for federal positions. The Congress got rid of army protection for black voters and also worked with presidents to decrease the number of federal jobs occupied by black people.
