Slave Trade within Africa

-existed since the days of ancient Egypt when captives were bought to the pharaoh for manual labor

-slaves were an important trade in in the Sahara

-they traded into the Indian Ocean from west Africa for centuries

-traded because the labor would be cheap and the people who bought the slaves in Africa couldn't find any workers in their region

-when Europeans started showing interest because of the plantations in the new world, things got out of hand.

-then Africans were forced to leave their homes to work in horrendous conditions and treatment
