Because of this, the South was no longer able to maintain a war. Yet not all African American slaves were free, only the Confederate slaves were free.

How slavery effected the American government/politics, southern Society, and African Americans, during the 1800s:

One way slavery affected the American government is with the Emancipation Proclamation. Once the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect in 1863, millions of slaves were free and abolitionists were celebrated the freedom of the slaves.
