George Washington

Characteristic: Epic

George was the first president of the United States, Commander in Chief of the Continental Army, and was one of the Founding Fathers.


Whiskey Rebellion : After the Revolutionary War, Congress put a debt on distilled spirits to pay off debts. Farmers in Western Pennsylvania opposed the tax and took up arms against it. George Washington sent soldiers to quell the protests, showing that the federal government would no stand for treason.

French Revolution : when the French Revolution led to a major war between England and France, and many people in power wanted to fight for each side, George Washington knew that the nation would not survive another war so soon, and decided not to join either side and stay neutral in the war.

Political Parties : During his Farewell Address, George Washington gave his word of advice on political parties. He said that while parties are sometimes beneficial, if they are not restrained they can cause the government to be distracted from there job, cause distrust be regions, and allow access to foreign opposers the country.
