Species: Blue Spruce

Scientific Name: Picea pungens

The Blue Spruce is an attractive tree often used often used for Christmas trees. The average height, and they do grow very slowly, at maturity ranges from 65-115 feet and they can live up to 600-800 years. Pinecones are produced in the fall and are around 2-4 inches long. Major pests include the western spruce dwarf mistletoe, spruce bark beetle, and spruce budworm. Major infestations can kill the tree. Deep root systems make this tree very strong against wind and in storms.
