The Western Chorus Frog is found from the middle to eastern areas of North America. They are found in a variety of habitats such as swamps, meadows, and open areas. These locations of less permanent water reduce the risk of egg and tadpole loss to fish through predation. Most Western Chorus Frogs are generally characterized by the white/cream stripe across the upper lip and a dark brown line from the nostril to the groin. The normal adult length is typically 1.9-3.9 cm. In Michigan, the breeding time ranges from mid-March to late May but mostly in April. If these frogs reach adulthood, they can live up to 5 years.
