The long lasting effects of plantations

-Sugar plantations are estates called engenho where sugar grows.

-Harvesting sugar is one of the most dangerous jobs because of all the labor involved.

-Many sugar plantations were not harvested because of the lack of labor because of diseases killing the workers.

-Africans are a majority of the population in Brazil because of these sugar plantations that they were used top harvesting all the time.

-Colonial Brazil was based off of sugar plantations.

-Sugar plantations were one of the few crops where one could fill a high demand with really cheap African labor.
