The formation of multicultural societies in the Colonies
-Multicultural communities were far more common in the south where many cultures were allowed to mix.
-Still, Europeans had a far higher position in the society by default, followed by creoles, and then mestizos(creole- European ancestry but born in America. Mestizo- mix of European and native parentage)
-Mixes between natives and colonists were called mestizos
-Happened because there were very few female colonists hat arrived into south america
Colonists from different countries didn't really mix in the south. They stayed in their own areas.
