It's dangerous!

Static electricity is a major threat at gas pumps and war ships.

The smallest kind of spark coming from the charged particles in your body at the gas pump can be an issue. The results can be deadly. Make sure to touch metal before you touch the gas pump in order to get rid of the charges in your body.

A long time ago there were boys on ships that had to carry gunpowder. They were ordered to run around the ship barefoot so no static charge can be transferred to the gunpowder.
