Cat Bites
The risk of infection from a cat is much higher than that of a dog. Cats teeth are sharper, and can puncture the skin deeper. Most cat bites are to the hand on tendons or joints. If bacteria gets into the tendons or joints it is an immediate surgical emergency. For superficial wounds, wash thoroughly with soap and water or an antiseptic. Cover with an antibacterial ointment and a bandage. Avoid feral cats for they can carry even more serious diseases such as rabies. If bitten by a feral cat, seek immediate medical attention.
