The North Korean government refers to Kim Il-sung as "The Great Leader" and he is designated in the North Korean constitution as the country's "Eternal President". His birthday is a public holiday in North Korea and is called the "Day of the Sun"

He was perceived as the "Sun" of the country and was a divine figure in the eyes of his people. They truly did believe he was a God of sorts.

Kim's use of propaganda to promote his ideas was arguable the most effective ever seen. He is still today seen as a divine figure in North Korea.
