Two major gender divisions in the U.S.

The media plays a huge role in the way that men and women determine gender and what is masculine and what is feminine. Whether we are consciously aware of the messages the media is sending us or not it is playing a role in the way men and women separate themselves.

Through our peers (family and friends, acquaintances, etc.) we have learned the way that males and females are "supposed to act". Whether it was deliberate or unintentional gender division is learned and begins at birth.
