Here a are a few of the characters: Seikei: The main character. He is the adopted son of Judge Ooka. He was training to be a samurai. Seikei was Judge Ooka's sidekick. They were detectives, and went to find out who was starting fires, but then get caught up in another mystery...

Nui: A teahouse worker, who is rude, overconfident, and uses her beauty to get people to do her work. She says she is destined to become a geshia, a Japanese entertainer, and taunts Seikei and says that he is not destined to become a samurai. She still makes him look foolish, even after he rescued her from a burning building...

Oba Koko: Oba is the owner of the teahouse that Seikei and Nui work at. She is mean, and yells, and tries to pinch Seikei's nose to prove he is not a demon.
