A. Why was the monsoon season so important to farmers in the Indian River Basin?


The monsoon season brings in rain and water that the plants need. Since crops farmed by Indian farmers require large amounts of water, in which is significant because farmers rely on monsoon season for water.


B. Describe the irrigation systems that were used in the basin.


Water is drawn from a major river and taken to the basin in pumps. When the water is needed, valves can be opened to release water.


C. Why was India’s population able to grow throughout the postclassical era?


They began to produce more food, which allowed for the growth of a larger population.
