Sarah Grimke

Sarah Grimké was born in 1792,to a very wealthy family that lived on a plantation in the South.She was the sixth of 14 children. Her father(Judge John Fauchereaud Grimké)was strict and disciplined his children,but enjoyed spending time talking with his children. He was particularly fond of Sarah,and although they did not quite have the same ideas on many matters, he was a big influence on her. Sarah's family owned many slaves,so she learned to hate it at a very young age, being exposed to it's cruelty. She was known to be independent,have a love of truth,

and sense of justice.
