What caused conflict
In October 1962 nuclear-armed Soviet missiles were being installed in Cuba, just 90 miles away from the U.S. President John Kennedy notified the Americans about the missiles, and said he was going to create a naval blockade around Cuba to made it clear the U.S. was prepared to use military force if necessary. The U.S. agreed with the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev to remove Cuban missiles and for the U.S. To promise not to invade Cuba.
