-After discharge from the war he ran for Congress in Massachusetts' eleventh congressional district and won in 1946

-He served 3 terms

-1952 he was elected to the U.S. Senate

-1956 he was almost elected as Democratic V.P. Canidate

-After touring the states in 1960 the Democratic Party chose JFK as their presidential canidate

-1960 JFK defeated Republican Richard Nixon in the election becoming the 35th president
